Attitudes that Hinder Passage into God’s Kingdom
In 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 it is written: “Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.”
The passage above shows that Paul is warning the Corinthian Christians of immoral acts and attitudes that will hinder them from gaining passage into the Kingdom of Heaven. Among these immoral acts and attitudes is greediness. Paul is telling the Corinthians that by being greedy, they are violating the Lord’s commandments, making them unworthy of entering into Heaven.
If you want to be pleasing to God, do not violate the 8th commandment by being greedy. Take only what you need, and leave the rest for others who, like you, have their own needs as well. You must not unrightfully deprive your neighbour of what is due to him or her.
