False Measures are Against God’s Laws

Proverbs 11:1 reads: “A false balance is an abomination to the LORD, But a just weight is His delight” These are only a few of the many biblical passages that show that the use of false measures and weights is against God’s law.

Even today, with such advanced technology, it is still surprising how many people make use of false measures and weights in order to gain an unfair advantage over others. For example, there are people who rig scales measuring gold at small stores, leading buyers to believe that the weight of the gold they are purchasing is heavier than what it actually is. Another example are people who hire and bribe corrupt judges for contests, with the intention of favouring one entry for personal gain.  

That said, one must be careful about the scales and measures used in transactions. Ask yourself; is your means for measuring values and costs fair and unbiased? Are your scales and measures accurate?
