Giving, a Way of Observing Sabbath

When was the last time you shared your blessings with other people? One of the requirements of observing the Sabbath is actually giving. It is giving back to the God and sharing your blessings with others. But first, you have to learn and understand what generosity is. The bible said: “you must seek the Lord your God at the place of worship… There you will bring your burnt offerings, your sacrifices, your tithes, your sacred offerings, your offerings to fulfill a vow, your voluntary offerings, and your offerings of the firstborn animals of your herds and flocks.”

Observing the Sabbath is not just showing off that you are resting or taking a day off from your usual busy life. It is actually taking rest from all worldly things and doing what is righteous and holy before God. Giving is one of the things that God wants each and every one of His children to excel at. The bible said: “Since you excel in so many ways – in your faith, your gifted speakers, your knowledge, your enthusiasm, and your love from us – I want you to excel also in this gracious act of giving.”
