Tithings and Offerings during Sabbath
Now since the world has received so much, it is but right to give back and lears generosity. Observing the Sabbath is in itself at act of giving. It is acknowledging the fourth law of God and giving your whole time to Him. You are giving your full attention to God and allowing Him to work in your life and replenish you with strength that you will need on the following days to come.
So what does God require you to give during Sabbath? Aside from the time and attention you dedicate to God during Sabbath, God requires that you give back the tithe and give offerings to Him. God has spoken through the prophet Malachi and said, “I am the Lord All-Powerful, and I challenge you to put me to the test. Bring the entire ten percent into the storehouse, so there will be food in my house. Then I will open the windows of heaven and flood you with blessing after blessing.”
Actually, when you give back the tithe to God and give Him offering, you are more likely investing that giving. God doesn’t need any of the tithes. He doesn’t want the tithe because He needs money. God wants you to give back to Him a portion of your earnings because He wants you to trust Him that He can bless you more when you practice generosity. So that is why during Sabbath, tithing and offering has been part of the ceremony in church.
